I Love Lamp...revisited...

Remember these?  On a random shopping date night the Hubs and I found some cute shades for them!  They were only $6 a piece!  Woot Woot.  We found them at none other than the beloved Ross. 

We also bought a fenial for the top at Hobby Lobby.  It was an oil rubbed bronze color so I used my handy dandy Rub N Buff and made it match the lamp.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

I found this mirror at Goodwill and hoped and prayed it would fit in one of the bathrooms. 

It did!!! it did!!!!

It fit in our downstairs powder room.  If you know me, you know I'm not much of a fan of gold in everyday decoarting.  I decided to spray paint it black with some accents of silver.  I taped off the mirror and sprayed away.  The tape was covering up some of the gold part and I had to redo it.  Awesome.  Turns out I didn't like the "silver accents" so I ended up re-painting the entire thing black anyways.

Take a Seat

This chair is super similar to the last chair I redid.  Different bones, same fabric.  I just can't get enough of this fabric!  Here is the chair I started out with that I found at a thrift store going out of business...does it get any better than that?  I mean sure, sad they're going out of business but makes for a decent thrifting day for yours truely.

I did some light sanding, priming, and spray painting and that sealed the deal for the chair part.  Next was ripping off all that nasty fabric and putting on the brand new fabric.  I think I like doing that part best because I can be inside and have the tv on...(and my true laziness shines through).

Blue Shelf

I have got to think of some more creative titles. 

This is a shelf I scored at my local Salvation Army.

Please Please Please ignore all the crap in the background.  This is what happens to your garage when you become a thrifter.  DO NOT (I repeat) DO NOT let your husband see this picture if you want to start thrifting.  This is not the way to get him on board with it.

I primed it with some good ol' Zinser spray primer and then spray painted it with Krylon's Global Blue.

It took 2 coats and covered quite nicely.

I think it would be perfect in a boy's room or as an accent piece for a pop of color.  For now it is living in the booth because I don't have a boy's room. 

Lil Shelf

I found this shelf at Goodwill a couple weeks ago.  There was 2 but 1 of them was pretty busted so I only went home with one.  I just thought it was so dainty! 

I primed it with spray primer and then spray painted it with Krylon's Blue Ocean Breeze.

This just in...my head is screwed on crooked therefore every other picture I take is crooked.

For now it resides in the booth.

Also, I know I have been posting quite a bit of simple projects lately...I am working on some tedious ones that should be posted very soon!!!

Clock turned Bulletin Board

I found this old clock at Goodwill on one of my latest thrifting trips.

I removed the clock and took everything apart so I just had the frame.  I primed and spray painted the frame white.  I would like to say that I am a genius and thought of this immediately, but I didn't.  I decided to glaze the frame with some black glaze (glaze: semi gloss paint with some water mixed in) because the white wasn't covering the dark wood like I wanted it to. 

I bought some fabric at my local fabric store and stapled it on the board inside of the frame.

Ta-da!  Now it's a bulletin board!

 

To the booth at The Depot it goes!  Well, actually, it is already in the booth in this picture.

Give a Hoot

Found this little guy at Goodwill for a couple bucks.

Freaky, right?  Nothing a little spray paint can't help.

Speaking of spray paint: 

The Headboard...finally.

Remember this?  I finally finished it!!!

I found it at my local Goodwill for $20

Ok, so here's the kicker...it looks like wood right?  WRONG.  The swirly dirlys are PLASTIC!  How cool is that?  AKA....no sanding involved!  WOOHOO!

I primed it and then spray painted it.

I almost wanted to leave it like this.  I thought it looked like lace.

The next step was taking semi-gloss paint and mixing it with some water and then quickly (very quickly) painted it on and then wiped it off with a wet rag.  Note to self: next time wear gloves.

Total cost was probably around $35.

This is going up in our guest bedroom.  I would show you a picture of it on the bed but I don't have bedding yet.  I'm thinking of something with turquoise and yellow.  Maybe some orange and deep purple?  Who really knows?! 

Yeah I Did

Here is just a sneak peek.  I found this headboard at Goodwill for $20.  They didn't think it would fit in my car....I love proving people wrong.

I squeezed my bum underneth the leg of the headboard and off I went!

Hehe...it won't fit....whatever

Note to self:  Full size headboards don't fit well in my car...but they do fit!!!

Cock-A-Doodle-Doo

Once again Mrs. DeVore is looking out for me!  She found this crazy cool rooster on a thrifting outing and knew I had a couple roosters in my kitchen and gave it to me.  Here is the before:

I thought about not doing anything to it but the gold was not even and was chipping off, so I spray painted it all black and that just wasn't doing it for me so I added some silver spray paint.  I didn't spray directly on it though because I wanted it to just shine a little.  Here is the final product above the pantry door in the new house!

Check out this awesome table a friend gave me!  It was just sitting in her garage and will soon have a new home in my breakfast area.

I'm pretty much in love with the claw feet.  My goal is to have it redone by Sunday.
